The main collections here are
"The Complete Repository" (CR), and
"Collection of Strathspey Reels &c." (CSR),
sets of 4 (or 5?) books each, published from the late 1700s to the early 1800s,
which included bass lines for all the tunes, and variations for some of them.
then as a single collection that combined each set into one thick book.
Each collection contained tunes that the Gows (mostly Niel and Nathaniel) had published
in smaller booklets over the years, and is an important part of the history
of Scottish music (including tunes from other areas, especially England and Ireland).
