The Order menu

The Order selection menu says where to look for the tune. The original Tune Finder always went to the site and downloaded the current file. This sometimes results in long delays or failure if the site can't be contacted. We now have an experimental "cache" which contains copies of tunes from the last time that a site was scanned. If the tune is in the cache, it can be returned quickly without downloading a new version. However, this means that you may get an older version of a file that has been updated recently.

You can use the Order menu to choose where to look first. The "cache/file" choice means to look in the cache first, and if a tune is not there, download the file from the remote site. This should be fast much of the time.

The "file/cache" choice will first try to download the current version of the file from the site, and if that fails for some reason, will look in the cache. This isn't as fast, but gets the current version of the tune.

There are also "file only" and "cache only" choices, which look for a tune in just one place. The "file only" choice gives you the Tune Finder's original behavior.

This is used during debugging the web site, and is probably of little use otherwise.
