From: Florence Hearn Subject: Brookline Halloween Class Date: Mon, 11 Oct 2010 11:24:12 -0400 To: John Chambers Here's the program I devised for our Halloween class on Sunday October 31, 2010. The class starts at 6:30 at the Church of Our Savior, 25 Monmouth St., Brookline. Most of the dances have appeared in past years when you have played for me. 1) The Loch Ness Monster 4x32R; A circle dance for "warm-up". Iain Boyd, Happy To Meet -3. 2) The Mad Hatter 8x32J for 3 cpls. Iain Boyd, Happy To Meet -9. 3) The Magic Airt O' Gow 8x32S for 2 cpls. John Drewry, Rondel Book -6. 4) Ferla Mor 8x32R for 3 cpls. John Drewry, Deeside 1 -8 I might have to substitute the easier extra if I think the dancers are not up to this. But I might ask the newer dancers to sit this one out. 5) Ghosts and Goblins 4x32J for 4 cpls. Karen Lavallee-Tente, Northampton 20th Anniversary Book -16. This is a new one and rather "spooky" since the devisor indicates the inactive couples wave their hands overhead as trees in the wind during bars 1-16 and the 1st lady says "BOO" to her partner at bar 8. There are also "ghostly" reels of 3 on the sides where the 1st couple closely shadows the 4th couple. Then in the next phrase (down the middle & up) the 1st couple knocks on a wall or virtual door ("Trick or Treat") on bar 28. I have a door-knocker and may be able to provide some percussion for this. The devisor says feel free to be silly with this dance. She suggested the recorded Music: "The Old Spedling Castle's Ghost's Dance (track 12) on GreenGinger's Gang on the Same Gate (KSCD004), but choose anything you think will work. 6) Sugar Candy 8x32S for 3 cpls. RSCDS Book 26-9 7) The De'il Amang the Tailors 8x32R for 3 cpls. RSCDS Book 14-7 8) Closing waltz Extra: Galloway House 8x32R for 2 cpls. Graded Book-5. I'll do this easy dance in place of #4 or if time permits an extra. Please let me know if this is satisfactory to you. This Fall we've had anywhere between 6 dancers to 2 four couple sets. I will be away in Arizona from October 15 - 24. Thank you very much.
