From: Smith, Kent W To: scannell@gis.net ; TomAndKaren Tente Sent: Monday, July 16, 2007 4:19 PM Subject: Springstep plans for July 23 MaryEllen and Karen, Here are my plans for the Springstep I/A class and the social dance portion on July 23. Karen, I'm assuming that you'll probably want to focus on Light and Airy (Setting and casting, Allemande, turn CPC, etc) and either Lady Lucy Ramsay or Braes of Tulliemet, depending upon the level of the dancers you have that evening. MaryEllen, I'm attaching two dances, one of which, Bobby Graham's Coach, has music which I would like used as the first tune. I'm including the other so that the musician has a sense of the dance. When Derek Haynes indicated a tune, I've listed it, but don't expect the musician to go hunting for them or creating sets around them. I/A class 1. The Famous Grouse (8x32J) Haynes: Fourth Carnforth. Suggested tune: Cave Hill (Trad.) 2. The Framingham Assembly (8x32S) Smith Leaflet. See attached. 3. Bobby Graham's Coach (8x40R) Smith Leaflet. Tune: "Bobby Graham's Coach" (Cathy Fraser) see attached. 4. [If time] The Spey in Spate (8x32R) Haynes: Third Carnforth. Suggested tune: "The Spey in S pate" (J. Scott Skinner) If there isn't time to work on Spey in Spate but some time left, I may do a quicker 8x32J, for which the musician could have a generic jig set. Social 1. Light and Airy (8x32J) Book 4:5 2. The White Cockade (8x32R) Book 5:11 3. The Braes of Tulliemet (8x32S) Book 7:12 4. [I/A] The Montgomeries' Rant (8x32R) Book 10:1 5. It's Nae Bother (6x32J) Haynes: Fourth Carnforth. Tune: "Walking the Floor" (Trad.) [Note: I may skip this if there isn't time, so don't spend a lot of time looking for "Walking the Floor" and creating a set for it. It is a 2-couple dance that we'll do only 6 times in primarily 3-couple sets.] 6. Lady Lucy Ramsay (8x32S) Misc. 2 7. Davy Nick Nack (8x32H) Campbell: Glasgow Assembly If either of you have any questions or if this is too much repetition with what is being done tonight, please call or e-mail me, and please have the musician contact me directly with quest ions or comments. Thanks, Kent
