4 x 32H for 4 couples in a 4C set
devised by Moira Turner & Stella Fogg

1 – 8 1st and 2nd couples, also 3rd  and  4th  couples,  dance  the
spiral from own sides.

1 – 4 1st man and 2nd woman, also 3rd man and 4th woman, turn right
hand  three-quarters and join left hands, man to man, woman to woman,
to form a line on the 2nd corner diagonal.  All balance in line.   On
bar  4,  1st woman and 2nd man, also 3rd woman and 4th man, pull back
left shoulder to face clockwise and rejoin hands.

5 – 6 In the diagonal line, 1st and 2nd couples, also 3rd  and  4th
couples, rotate one place clockwise. (2nd man and 1st woman, also 4th
man and 3rd woman, have progressed.)

7 – 8 1st man and 2nd woman, also 3rd man and 4th woman, turn right
hand three-quarters to progressed places on own side. 1st man remains
facing up and out, 4th woman out and down.

9 – 16 1st man dances an 8-bar reel of three in the sideline at the
top of the dance (with 2nd and 4th men), giving right shoulder to 2nd
man to begin.  On bars 15-16, 1st man crosses from 3rd man's  to  3rd
woman's place and again faces up and out WHILE

4th woman dances an 8-bar reel of three in the sideline at the bottom
of  the  dance (with 1st and 3rd women), giving right shoulder to 3rd
woman to begin.  On bars 15-16, 4th woman crosses from 2nd woman's to
2nd man's place and again faces out and down.  (FIG.  1)

17 – 24 1st man dances an  8-bar  reel  of  three  in  the  women's
sideline  at  the  top  of the dance (with 2nd and 1st women), giving
left shoulder to 1st woman to begin.  On bars 23-24, 1st man  crosses
from 2nd woman's to 2nd man's place. 2nd woman (in 1st place) remains
facing out at the end of the reel

WHILE

4th woman dances an 8-bar reel of three in the men's sideline at  the
bottom  of  the dance (with 4th and 3rd men), giving left shoulder to
4th man to begin.  On bars 23-24, 4th woman crosses from 3rd man's to
3rd woman's place. (FIG. 2) 3rd man (in 4th place) remains facing out
at the end of the reel.

25 – 28 2nd couple cast off behind 1st couple (2nd man  turning  to
face  down  to  begin, as for a reel in the sideline) then dance down
between 4th couple to end in 4th place in the  centre  of  the  dance
facing

partner.

WHILE

3rd couple cast up behind 4th couple (3rd woman turning to face up to
begin,  as  for  a  reel  in  the sideline) then dance up between 1st
couple to end in 1st place in the centre of the dance facing partner.

[Note: Dancers already in motion at the end of bar 24 (2nd woman  and
3rd  man) pass between 1st and 4th couples first, as in the centre of
a reel of 3.]

29 – 32 3rd  and  2nd  couples  set  and  petronella  turn  to  own
sideline.

Dancers finish in the order 3,1,4,2 and the dance  is  repeated  from
new positions.
