Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2008 12:04:57 -0500 From: "Chris Ronald" To: strathspey@strathspey.org Subject: RSCDS Book 43 Errata (music only) [was Royal Yacht etc.] Reply-To: strathspey@strathspey.org Book 43 was presented at the TAC Annual General Meeting in New Hampshire in 2003 by Johan McLean. The musicians who worked with her did of course notice the problem, as well as some other points related to the music in the book. They produced a note of "errata", which was shared with the participants. Here it is: No. 3 - "The Royal Yacht Britannia": Music (AABB format) accounts for only 32 bars. Suggest: ABABB format. [Note: AABBB just as good.] No. 4 - "The Queen's Quadrille": 2nd tune "Sir Hew ...(bars 17-40; 41-64) requires inclusive repeat marks, i.e at II# to begin thus: Fine II:# (pick-up note of "Sir Hew.." and at bar(s) 40/64 :II. No. 5 - "Strathmore": Bar 32 (40) needs repeat mark to return us to bar (25) 33 to repeat that section, as properly given in "Farewell to Longannet". No. 10 - "The Argyll Square": Title tune, Dennis O'Conor covers but 32 bars of the dance. Requires at least one additional tune to complete the dance, e.g. 1-2-1. Sorry, I've not been able to reproduce the musical notation properly. But I hope this is clear enough. If any musician would like to see the original handwritten text, please contact me. (Please note I'm not a musician - just an interested dancer/teacher.) Chris, New York.
