Hello English dance musicians: 

Come play in the next HARVARD SQ. ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE OPEN BAND

FRI 24 FEB 2012  

Bring  your  favorite instrument, bring your third-favorite instrument you've
been meaning to spend some time with, bring your friend, bring  your  dancing
shoes and do some dancing in between playing!

I'm  looking  forward  to Jan Elliott's leading the Open Band! Jan, who plays
recorders and concertina, is one of the most danceable musicians  out  there,
whether playing solo for rapper dancers, leading English dances with the Wood
Ducks  (unique  instrumentation:  recorders/concertina,  hand  percussion,  &
harp!),  or  putting  a  real groove in early music with Ensemble Passacaglia
(http://solsticesingers.org/passacaglia.htm).

As  always,  there  will  be an optional-but-valuable workshop/rehearsal from
6:15 - 7:15 pm, and the dance will run 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

THIS  JUST  IN:  OPEN  BAND  JAM  SESSION! Ishmael Stefanov & Sue Jaster have
generously offered to host a jam session on these tunes  at  their  place  in
Cambridgeport this Sunday, Feb 19, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. They have a 2nd floor
apt with a nice big central room.  Ish writes: "Address: 221 Charles St.  #2,

how many chairs we need.  Bring Barnes Books and music stand."
