Haapavesi is a town and a municipality in the North Ostrobothnia region of central Finland.
A Newfoundland native, composer, guitarist, and singer, Keith Murphy's music is based in Eastern Canada
and Quebec and in his current home, Vermont. A founding member of "Nightingale" and a member of
"Childsplay", he performs frequently with his wife, fiddler Becky Tracy, and the Hanneke Cassel Trio.
Murphy also composes and arranges traditional music for theater and film. His work has been recorded by Solas, Uncle Earl, Great Big Sea, and others, and on Ken Burns's documentary "The Roosevelts". Keith is a
faculty member of the Brattleboro Music Center, artistic director and founder of the Northern Roots
Traditional Music Festival, and music director of WGBH's annual Celtic Sojourn St Partick's Day concerts.
