W:As I walked out one morning
W:A little before it was day
W:I heard a conversation
W:Between a carnal and a crane.
W:
W:The carnal said unto the crane:
W:"If all the world should turn;
W:But once we had a father,
W:But now we have a son."
W:
W:There was a star all in the east
W:Shone out a-shining throng, [strong?]
W:And shone in King Pharaoh's chamber,
W:And where King Pharaoh lay.
W:
W:The wise men they soon spied it,
W:And soon King Pharaoh told
W:That an earthly babe was born that night
W:As no man on earth could destroy.
W:
W:King Pharoah sent for his arm-ed men,
W:And ready then they be,
W:For all children under two years old
W:Shall be slain-ed, they shall be.
W:
W:Joseph and Mary
W:Was weary of their rest;
W:They travelled into Eygpt,
W:Into the Holy Land.
W:
W:"Go speed thy work", said Joseph,
W:"Go fetch thy oxen wain,
W:And carry home thy corn again
W:As which this day hath sown."
W:
W:"If anyone should ask of you
W:Whether Jesus has passed by
W:You can tell them Jesus passed this way
W:Just as your seeds were sown."
W:
W:Then up came King Pharoah
W:With his arm-ed men so bold,
W:Enquiring of the husbandman
W:Whether Jesus has passed by.
W:
W:"The truth it must be spoken,
W:The truth it must be told:
W:I saw Jesus passing by
W:Just as my seeds were sown."
W:
W:King Pharaoh said to his arm-ed men:
W:"Your labour and mine's in vain;
W:It's full three-quarters of a year
W:Since these seeds were sown."
