W:Ye nations all, on you I call,
W:Come hear this declaration,
W:And don't refuse this glorious news
W:Of Jesus and salvation.
W:To royal Jews came first the news
W:Of Christ the great Messiah,
W:As was foretold by prophets old,
W:Isaiah, Jeremiah.
W:
W:To Abraham the promise came,
W:And to his sons forever,
W:A light to shine in Isaac's line,
W:By Scripture we discover,
W:Hail! promised morn, the Savior's born,
W:The glorious mediator,
W:God's blessed Word made flesh and blood
W:Assumed the human nature.
W:
W:His parents poor in earthly store
W:To entertain the stranger,
W:They found no bed to lay his head,
W:But in the ox's manger;
W:No royal things, as used by kings,
W:Were seen by those around him,
W:But in the hay the stranger lay
W:With swaddling bands around him.
W:
W:On the same night a glorious light
W:To shepherds there appeared;
W:Bright angels came in shining flame,
W:They saw and greatly feared;
W:The angels said, 'Be not afraid,
W:Although we much alarm you,
W:We do appear good news to bear,
W:As now we will inform you.
W:
W:'The city's name is Bethlehem,
W:In which God hath appointed
W:This glorious morn a Savior's born
W:For him God hath anointed.
W:By this you'll know, if you will go
W:To see this little stranger,
W:His lovely charms in Mary's arms,
W:Both lying in a manger.'
W:
W:When this was said, straightway was made
W:A glorious sound from heaven;
W:Each flaming tongue an anthem sung,
W:"To men a Saviour's given.
W:In Jesus' name, the glorious theme,
W:We elevate our voices,
W:At Jesus' birth be peace on earth,
W:Meanwhile all heaven rejoices.'
