T:WHOLE CHICKEN IN THE SOUP (slide), The
%T:Chearc ar fad is an tAnraith
C:ABC/arr. BB
N:Unusual title derives from a song (supplied to
Breathnach by Denis Murphy). The translation from Irish
isn\'92t exact (\'93is an\'94 would mean \'93and the\'94, not \'93in the\'94)
This is as good a place as any to mention other confusions
among tunes with \'93Hens\'94 or \'93Chickens\'94 in the title (e.g.,
\'93The Hen and Her Brood\'94, \'93Hen and Her Broth [?]\'94
\'93Anraith\'94 above definitely means \'93soup\'94 while \'93br\'f3d\'94 is
\'93brood\'94, i.e. lots of little chicks. Probably a bad
back-translation somewhere. . .
